Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Ownstage live demo at demo.ownstage.app and related demo surfaces (including the shop, checkout, ticket viewer, manager panel, and door scanner at scanner.ownstage.app) (collectively, the “Demo”). By accessing the Demo, completing a purchase, or using a demo ticket, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Demo or submit payment.
1. Demo only — not a real event
The Demo is a product demonstration and testing environment only. It is not a storefront for a real event, venue, artist, or merchant. Tickets, passes, merchandise, prices, dates, and event names shown in the Demo are fictional or illustrative.
- Demo tickets and QR codes do not entitle you to admission, merchandise fulfillment, or any real-world good or service.
- Emails, receipts, and ticket pages exist to demonstrate checkout, delivery, and scanning workflows — not to evidence a binding event contract.
- The Demo is labeled throughout (including banners, disclaimers, and this site) as a demo. You are responsible for reading those notices before paying.
- Your bank or card statement may show a merchant name that does not include the word “demo.” That descriptor alone does not convert a demo purchase into a real event ticket.
Assumption of risk. If you choose to enter payment information despite the Demo notices, you do so voluntarily and at your own risk. Claiming you “did not realize” it was a demo, “thought it was real,” misread the page, or paid by mistake does not automatically entitle you to a refund and does not change the nature of what you purchased (a test transaction in a demonstration system).
2. Purchases and payment
Checkout may use live card processing through Stripe as configured for this Demo. By completing checkout, you represent that you:
- Are at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live)
- Have authority to use the payment method you provide
- Have read and understood the Demo banners, checkout notices, and these Terms
- Understand you are buying a demo test transaction, not real event access
- Authorize charges for the amounts shown at checkout, including displayed taxes or fees
You are responsible for accurate contact information so demo tickets can be delivered. We may decline, cancel, or void orders that appear fraudulent, abusive, duplicated, or inconsistent with the Demo’s purpose.
All demo purchases are final to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law. Nothing in the Demo creates an obligation to stage, host, reschedule, or honor any fictional event.
3. Refunds — discretionary, limited, and slow
Because this is a demonstration environment, refunds are a courtesy — not a right. We handle refund requests manually, in our sole discretion, and only under the limits below. No refund is guaranteed.
3.1 What you may receive (if anything)
- If we approve a refund, the maximum amount is 50% of the ticket or item price paid (not taxes, not the full amount, and not “what you expected the event to cost”). We may approve less than 50%, or deny the request entirely.
- Stripe and payment-processing fees are non-refundable and are deducted before any partial refund is calculated.
- We may deduct a reasonable administrative fee (currently up to US $10 or 10% of the approved refund amount, whichever is greater) to cover manual review, email support, and payment reversal costs.
- Approved refunds are processed back to the original payment method when possible. We do not issue cash, checks, store credit, or refunds to a different card or person.
3.2 How to request a refund (required process)
To ask for consideration, you must email demohelp@ownstage.app within 14 calendar days of the purchase with:
- The email address used at checkout
- Date and approximate time of purchase
- Last four digits of the card used (if applicable)
- Order or receipt details from your confirmation email
- A brief explanation of your request
Incomplete requests may be ignored or closed without response. We may ask for additional verification (for example, confirming control of the checkout email or responding from the same address). Failure to cooperate within 7 days of our request may result in denial.
3.3 Timing and limits
- We aim to acknowledge refund emails within 10 business days, but we do not guarantee response times.
- If a refund is approved, payment may take an additional 30–45 business days after approval to appear, depending on Stripe and your bank.
- We may limit refund consideration to one request per person or email address per 12-month period, regardless of how many demo orders you placed.
- Requests received after the 14-day window, repeat requests for the same order, or requests submitted through multiple channels may be denied.
3.4 When refunds are usually denied
Refund consideration is discretionary. We may refuse or reduce a refund request in whole or in part, including when one or more of the following apply:
- Your email was sent after the 14-day window in Section 3.2, or you are requesting a refund for an order older than that window
- Your request is incomplete — for example, missing checkout email, purchase date, order reference, or a clear description — and you do not provide the missing information after we ask
- You do not cooperate with reasonable verification (such as confirming the checkout email or order details) within 7 days of our follow-up
- We cannot locate the order from the details provided (wrong email, demo data reset, or non-matching records)
- The email address or payment details in your request do not match our order records
- Someone other than the purchaser submits the request without authorization we can verify
- You already received a refund (full or partial) for that order, or a prior request for the same order was denied
- You have already received refund consideration for another demo order within the 12-month limit in Section 3.3
- You submit duplicate or repeat requests for the same order through multiple emails, addresses, or channels
- You filed a card chargeback or bank dispute before emailing us, or you filed one while a refund request was pending or after a denial
- You made multiple demo purchases and request refunds repeatedly or in a pattern that suggests abuse of the Demo or support process
- You redeemed, scanned, shared, forwarded, or attempted to use demo tickets as if they were valid for a real event, resale, or transfer
- Our records show the ticket was delivered, opened, or used in a way inconsistent with an accidental or unused purchase
- You ask for the full amount, processing fees alone, taxes only, or any amount above the 50% cap in Section 3.1
- Your stated purchase amount, product, or date conflicts with our records
- You claim the purchase was a mistake or that you did not know the Demo was a demonstration, but our records show you completed checkout after Demo notices were presented
- You misrepresent facts, use false contact or payment information, or send harassing or abusive messages to support
- Your request appears intended to test chargebacks, exploit the Demo, generate support workload, or obtain refunds for orders that were valid demo test transactions
- The order was cancelled or voided by us, flagged for abuse, or affected by a demo reset described in Section 5
- Applicable law allows us to refuse (see Section 8 regarding mandatory consumer rights)
4. Chargebacks and payment disputes
Contact us first. Before initiating a chargeback, payment reversal, or “unauthorized transaction” claim with your bank or card issuer, you must email demohelp@ownstage.app and allow at least 10 business days for us to respond.
If you dispute a charge with your bank without following that process, or if you dispute a charge that you knowingly authorized for a demo test purchase:
- We may treat the dispute as a violation of these Terms and deny any voluntary refund for that order.
- We may submit evidence to Stripe and your bank showing Demo labeling, these Terms, your checkout email, IP and device logs, ticket delivery records, and your use of the Demo.
- If a chargeback is decided in our favor, you remain responsible for chargeback fees or network costs where permitted by law.
Nothing in this section prevents you from exercising rights that cannot be waived under mandatory consumer protection law. It does mean that for discretionary demo refunds, going straight to your bank makes approval far less likely.
5. Demo data and availability
Demo inventory, orders, tickets, scan history, and accounts may be reset, voided, duplicated, or deleted without notice as we test, debug, or improve the platform. We do not guarantee retention of any demo record. Do not rely on Demo purchases, tickets, or emails for any real-world purpose, resale, or proof of entitlement.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Demo, including by:
- Attempting to disrupt, probe, scrape, or compromise Demo systems
- Circumventing purchase limits, scanner rules, or access controls
- Using the Demo for unlawful activity, spam, or harassment
- Representing demo tickets as valid for real events or resale
- Submitting fraudulent chargebacks or payment disputes in bad faith
We may block access, cancel orders, or report abuse to payment processors or authorities where appropriate.
7. Disclaimers
THE DEMO IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
WE DO NOT GUARANTEE UNINTERRUPTED OPERATION, ERROR-FREE CHECKOUT, DELIVERY OF EMAIL, OR THAT DEMO TICKETS HAVE MONETARY VALUE, TRANSFER VALUE, OR EVENT VALUE. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR FAILURE TO READ DEMO LABELS, YOUR ASSUMPTION THAT A DEMO WAS A REAL EVENT, OR LOSSES ARISING FROM BANK DISPUTES YOU INITIATE.
8. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OWNSTAGE AND ITS OPERATORS, AFFILIATES, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR REPUTATION, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE DEMO — INCLUDING MISTAKEN PAYMENTS, MISUNDERSTOOD DEMO LABELS, CHARGEBACK OUTCOMES, OR DELAYED REFUND REVIEW.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE DEMO WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID THROUGH THE DEMO FOR THE SPECIFIC ORDER GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) US $100.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations. In those places, our liability is limited to the fullest extent allowed by law, and mandatory consumer rights (where applicable) remain unaffected.
9. Indemnification
To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Ownstage and its operators from claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your use of the Demo, your demo purchases, your violation of these Terms, or your payment disputes/chargebacks — including claims that you authorized a charge and later disputed it in bad faith.
10. Privacy
Our collection and use of information in the Demo is described in the Privacy Policy, including how we may use records to respond to refund requests and payment disputes.
11. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory local law requires otherwise.
Except where prohibited, you agree that disputes arising from these Terms or the Demo will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Pennsylvania, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there. Nothing in this section limits either party’s ability to seek injunctive relief or to participate in payment-network chargeback processes.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Material changes may also be reflected in Demo banners. Continued use of the Demo or completion of a purchase after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
